August 1: Pre-Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

In Mesa County, riding a motorcycle is by far the most dangerous way to travel but it is also one of the most exhilarating. This year we are partnering with Teddy-Morse's Grand Junction Harley Davidson Dealership and Motorcycle Safety Foundation to bring education and outreach to to the community and hopefully help more riders get home safely.

August 8: GJPD High School Traffic Safety Event

We are proud to support this wonderful event put on by the Grand Junction Police Department and D51 for Teen Driving Safety. This event is open to all students 15 and up regardless of their school with some schools offering free parking passes for attendance!

August 29: Fruita Bike Safety Fest

Bicycles are the first and primary mode of freedom and access for many in Mesa County and the RTPO loves to support local jurisdictions in promoting safe biking.

Three ways you can help make Mesa County safer

  1. Safety is a shared responsibility. Whether you drive, ride, bike, walk or roll, every decision on the road plays a role in protecting lives.
  2. Get Involved. Be a safety champion, attend community events and join local efforts to promote safe driving, biking, and walking.
  3. Spread the Word. Share safety messages with family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors. Small actions, like reminding a loved one to buckle up or put their phone away while driving, can save lives.
